Happy Spring! I hope your days are brighter, and your garden is flowering. This is an exceptionally busy Spring season for me, so excuse the brevity (click links for details):
One Step Beyond TONIGHT/NYC I will join my team from Intersection Arts to make immersive media fill American Museum of Natural History’s Hall of the Universe with pixels and light while Mobile Mondays! DJs spin all vinyl 45 RPM sets. This show usually sells out so grab tickets quickly!
Creative Tech Week TOMORROW/NYC I will present a short lecture about my real-time media artwork practice, and the ways I am extending this work via networked performances with Moving Pictures Gallery.
REMIX RESHOOT RESEARCH TOMORROW/Lakeville, CT On the 2nd anniversary of its premiere at DB Lounge, Frieze Art Fair NY, my interactive artwork “Picturing You” is back as part of this group show curated by 99 Hooker. Come make your own self-portraiture video painting.
Moving Pictures (be the first to know) I am very happy to announce my latest collaboration, a conceptual framework to ‘substantiate’ ethereal media art via emerging blockchain tech. Moving Pictures is a partnership with Eric Barry Drasin, an artist who has been presenting realtime media art via Performing Systems. Eric and I are exploring a symbiotic pairing of money’s and art’s networked systems to assert the social equity of digital media makers. Moving Pictures presented Performing Systems: Jonas Bers as a Bronx satellite of Creative Tech Week, NYC. Sign our list now to be the first to learn about forthcoming Singular Editions we are offering from Bers’ astounding A/V performance Program Feed.
“Signal to Code” at Rose Goldsen Media Archives/Cornell University my collaboration with Stephan Moore from a residency at Experimental Television Center is featured in this wide-spanning peek at the Goldsen Archives. Don’t miss the interactive installation of the Video Synth, a forthcoming suite of Eurorack modules by Dave Jones.
I was invited as the featured performer for LEAF Lafayette, Colorado’s Electronic Arts Festival, curated by David Fodel. I presented a live media self-portrait using Video Synth prototypes from Dave Jones.
After a long hiatus, I am collaborating with Barbara Held. We have presented our synths and flute media art as live performances in NYC and will soon announce our new installation in Spain.
My grad students and I have wrapped the second New Forms in Media class I’ve taught for School of Visual Arts, MFA Computer Art. Over the course of the final 2 classes, my students presented their final projects, which featured a wide range of styles and techniques like 3D printing, projection mapping, laser cut fabrication, live A/V performance, ‘Pepper’s Ghost’ holographic installations, and much more. Congratulations to all the students, subscribe to my RSS to learn about their thesis exhibit opening in a month!
